                            Baseball Statistician

1.) Do they still use this job today?                    The picture above is stats                                                            such as hits,RBI's(Runs Batted In),and

                                                                              pitching stats.

The other picture is a baseball commonly used in a game.

2.) How does this job work?

3.) How much math is involved in this job?

4.) Can just anybody be one? Does it have to be a math pro?

5.) Why was this job invented?

Yes. They do still use this job today. They use it to keep the stats of a baseball player. Such as hits. 1 hit is 1.0 which is the best and you just keep going from there multiplying and dividing.

This is how it works: A baseball player hits a ball and the the baseball statistician puts it on his record at the end of the game. After the game they then multiply and divide it on your previous games and hits to get your current average.

A LOT of math is involved in this job. When getting the average you need to multiply and divide a lot. Also, when getting the total number of hits, the baseball statistician adds it to their previous hits and factors that into their average.

Anyone can be one as long as they have a degree in math. However, they must be really smart in math. Also, they must be really committed to their job because almost everyday the averages will change and it's their job to make sure the averages are up to date.

This job was invented so that the managers could keep track of all their players stats. Also, so that the players could know all the other players stats including their own.

When baseball statisticians add stats to the players overall stats, the next time they go up to hit or pitch the changes will automatically show up on their player cards. The math involved there would be making sure that everything they have added, subtracted, multipied, or divided is definitley correct because the stats will be shown everywhere. If they make one mistake, the whole world will know. This is why they must be extremely smart so they don't make mistakes.
