Mission Statement of the Challenge Program

The Valley Stream School District #24 Challenge Program is planned for students who are identified as Academic High Achievers (Potentially Gifted). The program has two goals. One is to utilize higher level thinking skills; the second is to stimulate academic performance on advanced levels. Within the framework of the New York State Curriculum Standards and our goals, Challenge develops a variety of abilities: critical and creative thinking strategies, as well as research and presentation skills. The philosophy of our program challenges our students to develop their potential to its highest level and to demonstrate that achievement.
