Questions:
1.How does chess help people with math skills?
2.How does chess relate to computers?
3. What connections are there between math and chess?
4. How does chess relate to math?
This is my first day at the math enrichment program.I am excited to start researching.I am going to use this page for research.I have yet chosen my topic to be researched.I think I want to research on how chess improves math skills if it does.
1. I was researching on chess. It turns out chess does improve math skills. It improves math by problem solving.
Math questions are problems. In chess you do problem solving all the time. You need to checkmate the other person and stay safe yourself. That's what I found out so far. I found this information on link 1.
2. I also found out another way chess can relate to math and increase math skills. If you look at the picture above, you see that the chess board is like a map or grid.
For example, you can move you'r pawn to c3 or a rook to h5.
This is another way chess relates to math.I found this out by looking at the picture above the picture above.
3. Modern computers are popular in modern chess games. Now, you can play against a computer instead of a person. In fact, Deep Blue was the first machine to beat a world chess champion, Gary Kasparov.Computers offer a great challenge to chess players. This is a way chess relates to computers(does'nt that counts as a calculator.).I found this out at chess on wikipedia(link 2)
4. Chess is also a game of strategy. You need to think you're moves to win. This may help my research. I figured this out on my own.
5. I found another source. This person says you need to think when play chess and do math. It said there is a strong
connection between math and chess. I found this information out at link 3.
So far I answered my questions on :
how chess relates to computers(see paragraph 3),
how it relates to math (see paragraphs 5,2,1,),
and how it improves math skills.
I am almost ready for my glog.
I just finnished my skeleton of my glog. Wish me luck.
Below is an animated picture of chess.
Below are the pieces of chess. To the right of that is deep blue, the computer
chess champion!
Next is the Knights tour. A knight can move around a chess board without going in the same square twice. Left to this is one solution to a eight queen puzzle. You need to place all queens in a way so they can not capture eachother.Below is a link to a gamestar mechanic game about chess I made.
