Origami..."to fold paper"

What is origami? <

When did it start? <

Who started origami?<

Why was it invented?<

How is it related to math?<

Why do we still use origami?<

Origami is really cool, but it is also related to math! Origami (or-i-GAM-me) is the Japenese art of paperfolding. This ancient art started in China actually, but was introduced to Japan by Buddist monks in the 6th century. It was in Japan that the art of paperfolding began.

It is not known who started origami. But, if there was paper, then paper must have been folded at some time. Origami was not invented for any reason, it just... happened! Origami is a type of geometry. If you do not know what geometry is , here is the defenition:  a branch of mathematics that deals with the measurement, properties, and relationships of points, lines, angles, surfaces, and solids; broadly : the study of properties of given elements that remain invariant under specified transformations. So, origami works with angles, points, lines etc.

We still use origami today. To many people, it is a hobby. Origami is even used in some classrooms! I guess that we still use origami because... it's fun!
